Will I paint the kitchen?
Or put up those shelves
You needed in the bathroom?

Not like my world
Where you get so frustrated
At times
That you would eat
A piece of choccy
Or chocolate cake
That was so out of date
It was about to get up
And leg it off down the road.
And everytime
You put your bag on your back
To go for a swim
The phone rings
Or someone arrives
With a problem
That only you can solve.

The Diamond Above The Door

In the Sims
When you are manoeuvring a character
On the screen
A little green diamond is suspended over their head
And it shows which character
You selected

I think there is one of those diamonds
Above our house,
Because
When someone is looking
For
The community centre
Ash Park, Newcastle
The Village,
Mick, Dick, or Harry
Mary, Joanne or Louise
Tim or Tom.

If someone wants to clean a garden
Fix a pipe
Build a wall
Put something on your chimney
Put down cobble lock
That only looks like it.
Wants sponsorship for
A walk around the Sahara
Wants you to make €500
In the next month
Wants to make your life
So much easier
With their orange cleaning
Gunk.

Eventually they will all arrive at our door

They will walk past No’s 13 and 14
Make a beeline for our door,
No hesitation,
Finger straight on the bell.
It is like being in the Sims
Only without the millions.
